This charming 1960s home nestled among towering trees and natural wildlife presented the perfect opportunity to transform an underutilized walkout basement into a year-round sanctuary that celebrates its stunning woodland setting. The original basement struggled with temperature regulation due to outdated building practices of that era, so we installed hydronic in-floor heating throughout the entire space and topped it with beautiful new tile flooring for consistent warmth and comfort. The renovation features a spectacular sunroom with integrated garden beds built right into custom cabinetry, allowing the homeowners to bring their love of plants and nature indoors. Custom steel and glass doors and dividers maintain the open, airy feel while defining distinct spaces, including an enchanting children's hideaway tucked under the stairs complete with whimsical Peter Rabbit wallpaper and cozy wool carpeting. We added new insulation throughout to improve energy efficiency, while outside, a custom concrete water feature and pathway create seamless indoor-outdoor living. This transformation turned a problematic basement into a magical retreat where the family can enjoy nature's beauty in comfort throughout all seasons.
